Interband pairing in multiorbital systems

چکیده
The discovery of high-Tc superconductivity in the pnictides, materials with a Fermi surface determined by several bands, highlights the need to understand how superconductivity arises in multiband systems. In this effort, using symmetry considerations and mean-field approximations, we discuss how strong hybridization among orbitals may lead to both intraband and interband pairings, and we present calculations of the spectral functions to guide the experimental search for this kind of state.

Novel superconductors: Multi-band and Nano systems
We shall present a novel real space approach to study the effect of disorder on superconductivity in a multiband system modeled by a two-band attractive Hubbard model [1]. Our calculations reveal that in the presence of only intraband pairing with disorder in either or both bands, the gap survives in the quasiparticle spectrum; similar to single band systems. However for interband pairing the g...
متن کاملProperties of the multiorbital Hubbard models for the iron-based superconductors
A brief review of the main properties of multiorbital Hubbard models for the Fe-based superconductors is presented. The emphasis is on the results obtained by our group at the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, USA, but results by several other groups are also discussed. The models studied here have two, three, and five orbitals, and they are analyzed using a ...

The Feshbach shape resonances in the interband pairing in superconducting superlattices of quantum wells or quantum stripes is shown to provide the mechanism for high Tc superconductivity. This mechanism provides the Tc amplification driven by the architecture of material: superlattices of quantum wells (intercalated graphite or diborides) and superlattices of quantum stripes (doped high Tc c...
متن کاملSuperfluid density and specific heat within a self-consistent scheme for a two-band superconductor
The two gaps in a two-band clean s-wave superconductor are evaluated self-consistently within the quasiclassical Eilenberger weak-coupling formalism with two in-band and one interband pairing potentials. Superfluid density, free energy, and specific heat are given in the form amenable for fitting the experimental data. Well-known two-band MgB2 and V3Si superconductors are used to test the devel...
متن کاملSuperconductivity in Strongly Correlated Electronic Systems
A microscopic theory of superconducting pairing within the Hubbard model is discussed. A Dyson equation for the matrix thermodynamic Green function in the Nambu representation for Hubbard operators is derived by applying the Mori-type projection technique for the equation of motion method. The self-energy is calculated in the noncrossing approximation for electron scattering on spin and charge ...
